I’m on cloud nine after attending the ultimate brunch event.
Mothers Who Brunch (MWB) is a series of brunch events organized by kitchen goddesses Michelle Ressa-Aventajado and Sabrina Cristobal-Go. Each event focuses on a specific theme, such as Mothers’ Day for the first brunch, and MWB Goes Asian for the second one.
Mish had previously invited me to one of their brunch events, but it was difficult for me to attend because weekends are always packed with family activities. I finally made it to the third brunch, which happened to be perfect for me, because the theme was food styling and photography for Instagram! Whee!
Mish and Sabrina had invited no less than Jaclyn aka @Tenthousandthspoon to share all her foodstagramming tips and tricks with us. She has almost 50,000 followers on Instagram, and if you aren’t one of them… follow her right now! Check out her gorgeous feed here.
I was so excited to meet all these amazing moms, including my Instagram friends Chinky Apostol (@mustlovemom) and Amber Folkman (@amommabroad). And I was telling Michelle Cu-Unjeng (@jamfoods) that she looked really, really familiar to me, and it turns out that we were both volunteers for Make-a-Wish Foundation at around the same time, many years ago. How lovely that to be reconnected with her through Mothers Who Brunch! I also enjoyed meeting the lovely Cat Juan Ledesma (@catjuanledesma), Mish’s sister-in-law Ginger Aventajado, Chef Wencee Villegas, and Lady and Steph Badoy (@boquerialifestylemarket). Not in photo is party stylist extraordinaire Kaye Garcia (@kayegarcia13), who I tried to book for Naomi’s first birthday party. It didn’t work out because she was going to beon a family trip the date of the party. Really such a small world, and we were all brought together thanks to Mish and Sabrina.
I’ll be doing three separate posts about Mothers Who Brunch because there’s just so much to share. Stay tuned for my posts on Food Styling and Photography for Instagram and Mothers Who Brunch Recipes, coming up soon!
This was our brunch menu. Mish and Sabrina did all the cooking themselves, and had spent a day and a half prepping all the dishes — and then somehow managed to welcome us all at the Viking Range Showroom looking fresh as daisies, with not a hair out of place. How they do it, I have no clue.
And “homemade” chocnut ice cream. Sabrina and Mish had meant for this to be homemade, but due to a kitchen emergency, they ended up using store-bought vanilla ice cream and chocnut. They still mixed it manually though, so there’s that! Haha! Plus it turned out really well too.

Thank you so much to Mothers Who Brunch, our lovely hosts Michelle and Sabrina, and Jaclyn of Tenthousandthspoon for having me! I’d also like to acknowledge the generous sponsors who made this event possible:
