What is KidZania?

KidZania is the world’s fastest-growing family educational entertainment center designed as a real city to provide the ultimate role playing environment for kids 3 to 14 years old.  KidZania Manila will be the 20th KidZania City around the world.

The setup is one of an independent city run by “The Central Government of KidZania.”  They have their own Immigration and PaZZport offices!

Learning Through Role Play

Kids can role play over 70 professions, such as firefighter, doctor, chef, crime scene investigator, and so much more!  After working at certain establishment, kids receive compensation in the form of KidZos, the official KidZania currency which can be used within the city.

3Through KidZania’s tie-ups with corporate partners,  kids will actually be able to “work” behind the scenes at an ABS-CBN, bake pastries at Goldilocks, create ice cream concoctions at the Magnolia Ice Cream Factory, or try their hand at being factory workers at the Coca Cola Plant.  They can drive cars and gas up at the local Shell Station, become pharmacists with Mercury Drug, serve burgers at McDonalds, sell books at National Book Store or groceries at Healthy Options, and receive pilot training at Cebu PacificThey even have their own BPI branch where kids can encash checks and deposit their savings.

Our KidZania Experience

The Press Preview was really perfect timing, because Jacob was dismissed early from school and I was able to take him with me!  We were only able to stay for a little over an hour #becausehomework.

Jacob’s first “job” was at the KidZania Manila Fire Department (K.F.M.D.).

GLD11They start with basic firefighter training, then suddenly a fire alarm goes off and the kids gear up, and off they go!

GLD1GLD9Holy smokes!  The kids actually got to experience putting out a “real” fire!

GLD3GLD10Jacob had so much fun playing firefighter!  It was really such a learning experience too.  I told him he could try one more establishment and then we had to be on our way.  We ended up at St. Luke’s hospital.

GLD13Jacob wanted to go inside the Operating Room, but they told us it was closed, so he ended up in the Johnson’s Baby Nursery instead.

GLD7The babies looked so real, I was actually a bit scared when Jacob put his baby on the edge of the changing table.

The kids were taught how to carry, swaddle, bathe, and change the diaper of a newborn baby.  Jacob told me he was pretending that the baby was his sister, Naomi 🙂

After the Nursery, Jacob still wanted to try more places, but we really had to go.  I promised we’d be back real soon.  The Shell station + cars will is the next thing on our must-try list , and for older kids, I heard that the Crime Scene Investigation activities are a lot of fun too!
