Just recently, I met up with Bono Gelato’s Treena Tecson to try their new low-sugar flavors, and I’m happy to report that I found a new favorite.
- Low-Sugar Blueberry Gelato – made with real California blueberries and NO food coloring
- Low-Sugar Double Chocolate Gelato – made with 65% Belgian chocolate
- Low-Sugar Cappuccino Gelato – made with locally sourced coffee beans and cacao nibs
Bono’s Chef Zarah Manikan was able to achieve the right sweetness with the use of an all-natural plant-based sugar substitute with a low glycemic index. I can’t tell you what it is because it’s a closely guarded secret, but it is definitely a plant, and definitely good for you! The ingredients are then churned daily in small batches to produce the best authentic Italian-style gelato.
So which new low-sugar flavor is my new favorite?
Hands-down, it’s Double Chocolate for me! It is heaven for chocolate lovers and a must-try. My other top favorites from Bono are the Cioccolato, Movie Night, and Cereal and Milk sandwich.
