My cousin Queen booked us rooms at the Hanoi Imperial Hotel, just a stone’s throw from the lake and right in the middle of the Old Quarter. Here are some photos from the hotel’s official website:
To be perfectly honest with you, I was expecting to be grossed out by the hotel, because it was obviously an old hotel, and it was so cheap (below P10,000 for 4 nights for 2 people, inclusive of breakfast). BUT I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and was perfectly happy and comfortable throughout my stay!
We had daily breakfast at the hotel, and while the buffet selections weren’t that extensive, it was nice because you could order fresh pho and fresh eggs cooked according to your preference. Each morning I basically had vegetable pho, eggs, toast with jam, and vegetables.
We enjoyed excellent service throughout our stay, and all hotel staff from the concierge to housekeeping were all friendly and super helpful. I’d highly recommend Hanoi Imperial based on our experience, and would gladly stay there again. It’s a value-for-money hotel in a bustling and colorful neighborhood; you won’t have to walk far for some local color and good local eats. Check out the hotel’s Tripadvisor reviews here.
