Corner Tree Cafe: Vegetarian Food

I’ve been eating at Corner Tree Cafe even way before giving up meat.  They’re absolutely right when they say that a lot of their clients are omnivores, and that says a lot about their food.

Dinner with the hubs on one of our date nights at Corner Tree Cafe

The restaurant is in a tiny and cozy corner along Jupiter Street in Makati, and is great for either a casual lunch, an intimate dinner, or a quick takeaway meal.

Here are my favorite things to order:

Roasted Carrot Soup with Cumin

IMG_5416Please forgive the grainy photo, this was taken during the evening, when Corner Tree Cafe serves dinner by candlelight!  But trust me that blurry or not, the carrot soup is creamy and delicious.  Cumin is one of my favorite spices and goes surprisingly well with carrot!  The Sicilian Tomato and Bread Soup is yum too 🙂

Veg Bibimbap (omit egg)

All the dishes on the menu are either vegan, or can be veganized if lacto-ovo vegetarian.  Corner Tree’s bibimbap is made with organic red rice, shiitake mushrooms, fresh spinach, bean sprouts, carrots, and zucchini.  They serve this one-pot dish with a fried egg on top, unless you specify otherwise.  Really spicy and delicious!

Arroz ala Cubana

Arrozz ala Cubana is one of my favorite Filipino dishes!  My mom used to have this cooked for me and my siblings all the time.

Corner Tree Cafe makes theirs with minced tofu, tomatoes, green olives, raisins, and fried saba bananas.

Spaghettini with Broccoli and Toasted Almonds

IMG_5419I love carbs, and was pleasantly surprised to find out after giving up meat, that I could actually eat carbs everyday without getting fat!

This pasta dish may look simple, but it is packed with flavor from the olive oil and garlic.  Healthy and so good, I can enjoy two of these with no guilt whatsoever.  Specify no cheese for a vegan option.

What are your favorite vegan or vegetarian restaurants?  I’d love to know.

      1. Haha, well I stayed in Japan for almost 5 years so I have since then started on the fish (who can resist fresh sushi there right?) , and then the meat came along after…but still at a minimal 🙂
