F1 Hotel Staycation + a giveaway!

Hi everyone!  I’m happy to announce my very first Green Lunch Diaries giveaway (and it’s a good one), but first, let me tell you about our recent staycation at the F1 Hotel BGC.

via Agoda

Sometime last month, Jane of Sugar and Spice invited me and my family to an overnight stay at F1 Hotel for the papal visit holiday.  Jane and I had never met before this, but we get to “chat” with each other on Instagram, and I was so excited to meet her!  I was doubly excited to find out that she had also invited Michelle, Tina, Cai, and Didi (unfortunately, Didi wasn’t able to join us).

Since John and I were still recovering from our yaya-less HK trip with 2 kids, we decided not to take the kids with us this time…  and we had such a fun and relaxing time!

Premier Lounge

Upon arriving at F1, John and I immediately proceeded to the hotel lobby on 5th floor.  And since we were booked in a Premier Suite, we were directed to the hotel’s Premier Lounge on  the same floor, where guests can enjoy priority check-in.

Hotel staff take care of everything while guests sit back and enjoy the free wifi, books and magazines, a selection of mini sandwiches and pastries, fruit juices, and coffee.

The lounge also serves complimentary afternoon tea and cocktails for all guests booked in the suites.

Fort Suite

Moments later, we were escorted to our room on the 14th floor. IMG_3865 The Fort Suite is a really lovely and spacious 1-bedroom space, with a separate living room.  Bathroom is a bit cramped, but very clean and tastefully done. IMG_3864 The suite can accommodate up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 kids, given that there is a King sized bed in the bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living room. IMG_3868Fort Suite Features:

  • King Bed
  • Separate living room with sofa bed
  • Two (2) flat screen TVs
  • Mini bar
  • Work desk
  • Closets inside the bedroom and in the living room
  • Complimentary snacks, afternoon tea, and cocktails at the Premier Lounge

F All Day Dining

Soon after checking in, we proceeded to the hotel’s main restaurant, F All Day Dining, for a buffet lunch.

The restaurant has all the usual dishes one would expect to see in a hotel buffet, but I zeroed in on their meatless and healthier food offerings.

I started with their freshly made dips — hummus, pesto, and sundried tomato.  These were all really good, and a nice way to start a meal.

IMG_3967Next, I had a bowl of rich seafood laksa soup.

IMG_3998Salmon sashimi. IMG_3999The prawn and vegetable tempura were delicious (they make a really good batter here, says my husband who looooves tempura). IMG_4007

One of the buffet’s highlights is a Mongolian station where you can create your own bowl  They’ve got lots of seafood and vegetables to choose from, and you just tell the Chef if you want it sweet, spicy, or salty, and if you want it all served over rice.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, F All Day Dining prepares a special Fit and Fab buffet with even more selections for healthy eats, including fish and seafood, veggies galore, and healthy grains.

f1hotel1For dessert, there’s a really cute candy buffet with a DIY doughnut station that the kids enjoyed.  Since John and I had left our kids at home, the hotel staff thoughtfully gave us small plastic containers so we could take home some gummi bears and chocnut as pasalubong! IMG_4009

Hotel Amenities

I am really loving all of F1’s amenities on the 3rd floor.  The restaurant is bright and beautiful, with lots of natural light streaming in. They also have a bar called Canary Lounge out on the deck, where  you can order drinks and snacks to enjoy poolside. And the pool area is fantastic!  There is a wading pool for kids who just want to splash around, a moderate sized pool for families and older children, and a lap pool for serious swimmers.  For those who just want to chill, the hotel has daybeds scattered all around the deck, where you can relax and enjoy the city view.

I had a really fun time hanging out by the pool with these mamas!  Too bad Jane wasn’t able to join us here, she was already upstairs at the spa enjoying her massage. IMG_3995After hanging out by the pools a bit, I had a super relaxing massage at the hotel spa, then some valuable nap time before dinner.  Eat, spa, sleep, eat… seriously, Jane, can we please do this once a week?

Poolside BBQ

For dinner, the gracious F1 Hotel team prepared a wonderful poolside barbecue for us!  I had grilled fish, squid, and prawns, with lots of rice, soy sauce, and atsara.  Yum!!

IMG_4056We also had a salad buffet, a s’mores station, mocktails prepared by the hotel’s Canary Lounge.

Such a fun and laidback night.  It felt just like a beach party, except with stunning views of BGC!

Breakfast Buffet

One of my favorite things about staying in a hotel is of course the breakfast buffet!  I usually just have a bowl of oatmeal, a green smoothie, and coffee for breakfast on ordinary days, so hotel breakfasts are always such a treat.

f1 breakfast

John and I enjoyed reading newspapers over plates of garlic rice and tawilis + endless cups of coffee.  F All Day Dining is the perfect breakfast spot, with gorgeous views and all the natural light streaming in.

Location

F1 Hotel is right smack in the middle of BGC.  John and I walked to Central Square and Bonifacio High Street for a bit of shopping, as both are literally just steps away.  I can imagine spending the weekend here with the kids next time, maybe a make a trip to The Mind Museum, and soon, Kidzania!  There’s so much to do around the area and you can just explore on foot.

Location is really key to a successful staycation, dont you think?  Because what’s the point in staying somewhere nice if you have to exert too much effort or drive too far for good food and entertainment?  At F1 Hotel, I guarantee you won’t have to!
