Travel Notes: Discovery Shores Boracay

One of the best things about living in the Philippines is that we have some of the world’s best beachesAnd even if I’m no water baby, I do love going to the beach, especially Boracay!

B

The first time I went was with my family, years and years ago, when they didn’t even have electricity on the island.  These days Boracay can get packed with beachgoers particularly during Holy Week, but it’s still my favorite beach to visit.  There’s just something about the open sky and fresh air, the clear blue-green waters as far as the eye can see. Our favorite resort on White Beach is Discovery Shores.  The resort is situated on the best part of Station 1 of White Beach, where you can enjoy more privacy, and the sand is extra soft and powdery.  (If you want even more privacy, you can also check out Boracay’s Bulabog Beach.)B2Discovery Shores offers all-suite accommodations, and each suite has its own balcony.  This is a junior suite that my husband John and I recently stayed in. CDExcellent service, plus lots of extra thoughtful details, such as a welcome foot bath, complimentary snacks, and the personalized notes that they leave for you every day.

EI love the breakfast buffet at the resort’s Indigo restaurant, with an amazing view of the beach. JIDiscovery Shores is the perfect place for a lazy beach bum like me, who spends a lot of time reading by the beach, or sleeping under the sun. GHThey also have private pools and jacuzzis, a spa, recreation room, library,  and a playroom where guests can borrow beach toys.  Resort staff also prepare daily activities for kids, such as arts and crafts or cooking lessons. ADiscovery Shores Boracay has consistently been included in Travel & Leisure Magazine’s list of top resorts in Asia, and I don’t wonder why.  It’s a beautiful resort, and the staff truly takes good care of you during your stay.

Have you tried staying at Discovery Shores?  Or what other Boracay resorts can you recommend?  I’d love to know, so I can check them out for our future Boracay trips!
